I AM A WOMAN
I am a
daughter, a friend, a mother, a sister, a home-maker, a super achiever.
I am
laborer, a cook, a mechanic, a driver, a pilot, a teacher, a nurse, a
care-giver.
I am a
doctor, a software specialist, a rocket scientist, an economist, a writer.
I am a poet,
a thinker, a philosopher, a guide and a path-seeker.
I am all
heart for the one that needs it, a shoulder where one can lean.
I cry
unashamedly, tears of sadness and joy, I hug and hold hands for the warmth.
I bear the
pain of parenting all through my life,
I am the dutiful partner in the journey of
togetherness.
I pray, I
visit temples, I bow before the Almighty, wanting happiness for my loved ones.
I rush
through the days, often nights, through months and years, with him by my side,
to keep the home alive.
I decorate
my home, I warm up my hearth, I save for the gloomy day.
I lead from
the front, yet back out where I have to, keeping the balance right.
I fight with strength, I argue with
conviction, I stand for my rights, for justice and truth.
I make a
living, I make a home, I make a life.
I deeply acknowledge
the good man in my life, just as I struggle to fight the wrong one.
AND YES,
I may remain
confined behind the heavy curtain, yet I know how to give love.
I may be a
free wandering spirit, yet I know where to ground my feet.
I may be a
super achiever, yet I know I have a home to run.
I may be of
any hue, yet I know the limitless capacity of my heart and the steel of my
mind.
I am no
Goddess.
I
am a woman!
